Well-deserved! PCOO Asec. Mocha receives Thomasian Alumni Award for gov't service


On Sunday, January 21, an award was given to the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Margaux "Mocha" Uson by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Alumni Association for exemplary public service.

Together with Uson were 18 other alumni awardee in government service.

According to The University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association Inc., its recipient was meant to be inspired and challenged in leading the Thomasian core values.

In a statement, it said "The sole criteria are for the recipient/s to be a graduate of the university of Santo Tomas and [to be] in government service. The recipients came from four levels of the government: House, Senate, Judiciary, and Executive".

The UST's official student publication 'The Varsitarian' announced on Twitter that Uson received the Thomasian Alumni Award for Government Service.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Uson said the recognition was an honor she is dedicating to her mother and the public.

The assistant secretary earned her degree in medical technology from the said university. The latter also attended medical school in the 400-year-old university before she dropped out to pursue a career in the music industry.

Uson passionately expressed her support for the then presidential candidate Mayor Rodrigo Duterte during his campaign for the 2016 elections.

In May 2017, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte appointed Mocha Uson as the assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO). Prior to this, she served as a board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.

The presidential appointee, who has nearly 5.5 million followers on her Facebook page 'Mocha Uson Blog' is considered as an asset of the administration’s communications and public relations platform.
