After Aquino admin vaccinated 400,000 pupils with an unsafe dengue shot, Lawyer blasts LP: Pasintabi lang pero tang**a ninyo!

Sanofi, a pharmaceutical company responsible for creating Dengvaxiasaid on their public disclosure on November 29 in Paris that it's new analysis of long-term Dengvaxia data has found variance in the vaccine's performance.

Dengvaxia is a vaccine that is said to prevent dengue fever among humans.

The premise of the differences based on their further analysis depended on whether or not the person to whom the shot was given has already had dengue infection prior getting vaccinated.

Though Sanofi said there are several factors that can cause severe dengue infection, it also mentioned that “However, the highest risk of getting more severe disease has been observed in people infected for the second time by a different dengue virus … For individuals who have not been previously infected by dengue virus, vaccination should not be recommended”.

The government-funded initiative commenced during the previous administration under Benigno Simeon Aquino III. Heading the Department of Health by the then secretary Janette Garin, the DOH's Dengue School-based Immunization Program had already started in school year 2015-2016.

The program covered 400,000 thousand public school pupils aging from nine years and above who are enrolled in Grade IV. The same children were administered in three six-month interval doses until June 2016.

Reportedly, the majority of those kids have definitely had not been previously infected by dengue.

In a Facebook post, former DOH undersecretary and chief of staff and international public health expert and communication strategist Dr. Susan Pineda-Mercado “This is the biggest government funded clinical-trial-masked-as-a-public-health-program scam of an experimental drug in the history of the DOH.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Mercado noticed that the program cost the Philippines PhP3 billion for the vaccines “and so much more now for the risks, anxiety and even lives that are now endangered. This was reckless and irresponsible from the start and the public was deceived into thinking this vaccine would protect children from dengue”.

“The public health community has been outraged for over a year. Legal action is now necessary. Families should be compensated for damages and the decision-makers behind this deal should be brought to justice. We need a core group of lawyers for a legal strategy. As several countries are involved multiple organizations for the protection of children should join forces”.

Reports says the shot aimed at protecting against dengue caused by dengue virus stereotypes 1, 2, 3 and 4 is administered via subcutaneous injection in the upper arm (deltoid), according to an FAQ published online by the Department Of Health.

On the other hand, the accountable pharmaceutical company of Sanofi has stated it will ask regulators to reflect new information on their product label which states, in part: “Based on up to six years of clinical data, the new analysis evaluated long-term safety and efficacy of Dengvaxia in people who had been infected with dengue prior to vaccination and those who had not. The analysis confirmed that Dengvaxia provides persistent protective benefit against dengue fever in those who had prior infection. For those not previously infected by dengue virus, however, the analysis found that in the longer term, more cases of severe disease could occur following vaccination upon a subsequent dengue infection.”

On another note, Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles, a Duterte loyalist, said on her Facebook post that 'this is disturbing in the extreme. Kalakas ng loob ng mga dilaw to cry Human Rights violations and call our president a murderer. Here is another example -- in a long list of examples--where the Aquino administration's corruption and ineptitude have killed and endangered our people'.

Below is Atty. Trixie's full post:

A murderous regime.

This is disturbing in the extreme. Kalakas ng loob ng mga dilaw to cry Human Rights violations and call our president a murderer. Here is another example -- in a long list of examples--where the Aquino administration's corruption and ineptitude have killed and endangered our people.

The DOH under then Sec. Garin purchased dengue vaccines and administered them to about 400,000 school children. The medicines were brand new in the market. There were no long term tests yet.

It turns out, the vaccines are good for those who have already gotten dengue. If administered to people who have never had dengue, they are now at lifelong risk of getting it.
